You don’t have to travel that far back in time to remember the November 10th release of the Steam PC Gaming Controller. Since then the $49.99 price tag really hasn’t been breached, until now. First GameStop and now Steam itself have fired off a 30% sale on the Steam Controller and Steam Link, cutting the price $15 each to $34.99.
GameStop will try to nickel and dime you with a $3.99 Value (4-7 business day) shipping fee, but you can avoid it. Enter promo code SAVER in during the first stage of checkout and watch that $3.99 reduced to zilch.
GameStop was the first to put the controller and Link on the discount chopping block, but it appears they were only a few hours early to the party. While writing the post Steam discounted the controller and the Link to $34.99. The Link is discounted on Amazon but not the controller, having us wondering if this same discount will pop up at other retailers in the future.
Just yesterday Valve announced they sold over 500,000 Steam Controllers and shows no signs of letting up. They made mention they’re working with developers to get the controller fine tuned with more games, and cited recent examples of DOOM, XCOM 2 and Dark Souls III as games good to go.
Also on sale at GameStop and Steam is Steam Link. This accessory lets you stream your game through your local network to supported media devices – such as a Smart TV – into another room. It was never as popular as the Steam Controller, but the vast majority of reviews on Steam are mostly positive.
