The highly anticipated Star Trek: Bridge Crew is finally launching later today. If the initial reviews are anything to go by, this seems to be a pretty decent VR game all things considered, albeit probably nothing to write home about. If you’re a Star Trek fan, however, you’ll probably want to take a look anyway. After all, it’s not every day that you get chased around by Klingons in virtual reality. Naturally, before you can play the game you’ll first need a VR headset and this is where things get interesting. Why? Well, it would appear that starting today, every HTC VIVE headset comes bundled with a free copy of Star Trek: Bridge Crew.

Interestingly enough, HTC decided to wait until launch day to announce the offer, which is a bit strange to say the least. As a result, a lot of people are pretty upset right about now judging by some of the comments on Twitter. It seems like a lot of people bought an HTC VIVE just for Star Trek: Bridge Crew and because the promotion wasn’t announced beforehand, they missed out on quite a deal here. It’s worth mentioning that this is a major new release and is therefore aptly priced at $50. Hopefully HTC can find it in their hearts to give away copies of the game to those who bought a VIVE just recently. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though. On the other hand, if you’re only now shopping for a new headset know that this deal will be available until June 30.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be available on PC and PS4. In addition to the HTC VIVE the game also supports Oculus Rift and PSVR headsets.
