Quantum Break coming to PC and Xbox One in April, new trailer looks pretty sweet

Quantum Break was meant to be one of the most promising Xbox One exclusives of last year, but much like so many other titles before it, the developers eventually decided to push the game back until 2016. Although many fans of Remedy Entertainment and their previous work (Alan Wake, Max Payne) were rightfully upset by this decision, it’s finally time to let go and forget because the game is now just a couple of months away. Not only that but it seems like the people behind the project had a change of heart in the meantime as Microsoft announced earlier today that Quantum Break will be available on Xbox One, as well as Windows 10 on April 5. I guess Microsoft was serious for once when it said at E3 2015 that PC gaming is still important for the company. Anyway, the official word from Microsoft is that:

“Xbox wants to empower gamers to play the games they want with the people they want on the devices they want, so Microsoft Studios and Remedy Entertainment will launch Quantum Break on Windows 10 simultaneously with the Xbox One version on April 5, 2016.”

That’s definitely good news for the PC crowd and it’s even better news for Xbox One gamers believe it or not. The company is now trying to incentivize console gamers – and perhaps get on their good side by changing its mind about the exclusivity part – by throwing in a free PC copy of Quantum Break for anyone who pre-orders the digital version for the Xbox One. What’s more, this buy one and get free deal only gets better because pre-ordering for the Xbox One will also grant you a free copy of Alan Wake complete with its episodic ad-ons, The Writer and The Signal, as well as a copy of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. Both are actually Xbox 360 copies but they can also be played on the Xbox One thanks to the backward compatibility feature. If you’re just interested in the original Alan Wake you can also buy a copy of Quantum Break post-launch and still get it, as pre-ordering is a requirement only for American Nightmare.

But wait, there’s more! If you’ve been following the news about Quantum Break for any length of time you’re probably well-aware that the game also has a live-action TV series that will run alongside it. The players will have to watch the show if they’re looking for the full experience because it reveals another side of what’s happening in the game and also because you can apparently have some say in regards to how the show plays out by making certain decisions in the game; though we’ll still have to wait and see how exactly Remedy plans to make this work. According to the Xbox team, “your choices in-game will affect the outcome of this fast-paced fusion between game and show giving the player a completely unique entertainment experience.” Suffice it to say that we can look forward to something new and interesting, which is always nice to see.

The Quantum Break show will feature relatively big names like Shawn Ashmore, Aidan Gillen and Dominic Monaghan, better known as Ice Man from the X-Men series, Littlefinger from Game of Thrones, and Merry from Lord of the Rings. The cast definitely looks promising with these three as the main protagonists, however, we only got to see Ashmore’s character in action thus far so we’ll try not to praise the show too much until we get to see at least one full episode. Expectations are high, though. But enough of my rambling, just take a look at the new Quantum Break trailer below and see for yourself. The whole thing looks pretty cool, right?
