Update: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is now official check out the announcement trailer below.
Though nothing is certain just yet, it looks like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 might be announced as early as tomorrow. Bandai Namco recently launched a website teasing a new Dragon Ball project that features a countdown timer which is set to finish in less than 22 hours as of this writing. While the website could be teasing any number of things, it seems like that this is related to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 due to its name – flythroughtime.com. The first Xenoverse is all about travelling through time and experiencing first hand some of the most epic battles ever waged in the Dragon Ball universe, so it’s pretty safe to assume that its sequel would follow a similar pattern.
As for the website itself, it’s filled to the brim with images depicting various important moments from the Dragon Ball anime, specials, and several games. That’s not much to go on, but it does tell us that this new project seems to cover everything dating back to the original TV series and all the way to the ongoing Dragon Ball Super saga, hence the assumption that this is probably Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Bandai Namco launched the original Xenoverse back in February of 2015 for pretty much every platform and was able to sell over 3 million copies as of February of this year. Though it is considered one of the better Dragon Ball installments in recent years. the game did receive plenty of criticism from certain outlets. If this is indeed Xenoverse 2, let’s hope that Bandai and whoever is helping to develop it have learned from past mistakes and can provide an experience truly worthy of the highly acclaimed franchise.
