We all expected Bethesda to announce new DLC for Dishonored 2 at E3 but it looks like we got something a little bit different instead. The company revealed during their press conference that the next chapter in Arkane’s highly-acclaimed series will be a new standalone adventure known as Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. Players are not required to own Dishonored 2 in order to play the upcoming title, which makes it an ideal entry point for newcomers to the series. However, if you’re already familiar with the world and characters of the series even better because Dishonored: Death of the Outsider tells a brand new story and features returning characters like Billie Lurk and her mentor, Daud.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider centers around main protagonist Billie Lurk and her mission to put an end to the mysterious figure. Not much is known about the Outsider, but the god-like being is said to have been around for 4,000 years and has grown immensely powerful during all that time. Needless to say, Billie Lurk will need to hone her skills to the max if she hopes to stand a chance. Luckily for her, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider introduces weapons, gadgets and supernatural abilities to play with, as well as new enemies to test them on. Although facing off against the Outsider will be your ultimate goal in this standalone adventure, you’ll first need to explore Karnaca in order to learn who or what the Outsider really is.
“Using all-new powers and abilities, Billie will infiltrate underground fight clubs and square off against the Sisters of the Oracular Order, the immortal Envisioned and the Outsider-obsessed Eyeless gang,” Bethesda said in a new blog post. “She’ll also face new Clockwork Soldiers – along with other new and returning foes – and retrieve ancient artifacts in a thrilling bank-heist mission, eventually facing the mysterious, god-like Outsider himself.”
“Throughout her journey, Billie will uncover some of the secrets surrounding the Outsider, a 4,000-year-old entity who’s been at the heart of the Empire’s most dishonorable moments. And eventually, Billie will be confronted by difficult decisions that will forever change the world around her.”
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is scheduled to launch on September 15 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
