Well, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a while longer before we can see how the story of Attack on Titan will unfold because season 2 was recently delayed. The news comes from Spanish anime website MisionTokyo (via Attack on Titan wikia) who apparently has some exclusive information and was able to confirm that Attack on Titan season 2 is now set to launch sometime during early 2017, probably during January.
While there are various conflicting rumors about the subject on various websites, this time around the information seems to be legit, as it was revealed by Selecta Vision marketing director Manu Guerrero during an interview with MisionTokyo. Selecta Vision apparently contacted Attack on Titan publisher Kodansha Comics with a request to broadcast Attack on Titan season 2 in Spain this Fall, when the anime was initially supposed to air. Kodansha reportedly had to deny the request due to the fact that season 2 “will not be airing on this year and that it has been rescheduled to some point of 2017.”
The reasons that lead to the delay are unclear at this time, but it seems likely that the team handling the production is a bit behind schedule. A delay of just of few months isn’t all that terrible, but this is certain to be a heavy blow to the fans who have been eagerly waiting for the second season. At the time of this writing, there are no official announcements or trailers to speak of when it comes to Attack on Titan season 2, so in hindsight perhaps a delay was to be expected.
As a small consolation prize of sorts, you may want to know that Koei Temco will be launching an Attack on Titan game later this year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so maybe you’ll want to check that out when it comes out while we wait for season 2.
